Where to Go on Broadway with Teens and Young Adults

I asked Nashville visitors where they took their mixed-age groups on Broadway, and the responses were incredibly helpful for families traveling with teens or young adults who aren't quite 21 yet.

Here's what actually works when you're trying to navigate the honky-tonks with minors in tow.

Luke Combs' Bar (Category 10) is the Clear Winner

Luke Combs' bar on 2nd Ave got the most enthusiastic recommendations by far. One group of 7 — including two people over 18 but under 21 — had what they described as the “VERY BEST time” there. They danced, ordered appetizers, and the staff even put a birthday message on the big screen. They had to leave by 9pm, which worked perfectly for their group.

Another family went for line dancing and found the servers and staff to be phenomenal. Here's something worth noting: they were excited about mocktails for their teens, but were told those contained some alcohol, so soda was the only option. But the staff made up for it by giving their daughter a special cup for her birthday.

Multiple visitors called it their favorite spot in Nashville.

Timing Matters More Than You'd Think

Here's the tricky part — there's no hard and fast rule for when bars start checking IDs at the door. One visitor tried Morgan Wallen's, Garth Brooks', and Dierks Bentley's bars by 7:30pm after an LSU game and they were already IDing at the entrance. The hostess explained that sometimes they start early, and there's no specific time you can count on.

The takeaway? If you've got minors in your group, aim to arrive earlier in the evening and be prepared to pivot if your first choice isn't letting people under 21 in anymore.

Best Bars on Broadway

More Places That Work

Ole Red lets kids in later than most venues and has great rooftop views. Margaritaville also made the list, with visitors praising both their cocktails and mocktails, plus great live music to sing along with.

If you want to stay in one area, Rippy's, Rippy's Side Room, and Mellow Mushroom are all next to each other and allow under-21 guests until 10pm. All three have food and live music.

The Reality of Corporate vs. Independent Venues

One visitor pointed out that most Broadway bars are owned by big corporations, and their insurance policies likely drive the stricter ID policies at night. They're trying to avoid the liability of having underage people in the venue when alcohol is flowing freely. Independently owned bars tend to be more flexible with their policies.
