Someone asked in a Nashville group about finding a hotel downtown at a decent price.
It's a simple question. But the answers? They told me a lot about which hotels are actually worth your money versus which ones just show up in search results.
I asked Nashville visitors where they stayed and what they thought. These are vetted, popular suggestions from people who actually slept there and had opinions about it.

The Drury Plaza Hotel
This one came up over and over. Like, so many times I lost count.
Multiple people specifically said “the Drury” without any other context, like it was obvious. And the people who explained why they loved it made it sound like one of the better deals in Nashville.
Free breakfast. Free cocktails and light bites from 5-7pm. Easy walk to Broadway. One person said they just came back from there and “highly recommend.”
Another person listed it alongside free breakfast and happy hour perks like those were the main selling points. Which, honestly, they kind of are when you're trying to save money on a trip.
It's about 3 blocks from the action, so you're close but not right in the chaos.

Here's what surprised me about this one: the rooms have been renovated, they have free breakfast, and they have live music and heavy appetizers in the lobby in the evening.
Wait, what? Live music in a Holiday Inn Express lobby?
One person specifically mentioned this and said it's a short walk to lower Broadway. Another person just returned from 4 days there and called it a “great hotel right in the heart” — but you also can't hear the music at night, which is a huge plus if you actually want to sleep.
The fact that multiple people brought up this specific Holiday Inn tells you something. It's not just any chain hotel.

Hampton Inn & Suites
About 3 blocks off Broadway and right by the Country Music Hall of Fame.
One person mentioned it's cheaper during off times, but there are nightly parking fees. That's worth knowing upfront because parking can add up fast in Nashville.
The location seems solid if you want to be walking distance to both Broadway and the museum.

Doubletree and Hotel Indigo
These got mentioned together by one person as good options, and separately by someone else who's stayed at Doubletree multiple times along with higher-end places like Conrad and Gaylord.
If someone who's done the fancy hotels also goes back to Doubletree, that probably means it's decent.

Hyatt Place Downtown
One visitor said it was “very clean and spacious” and about 3 blocks from Broadway.
They were able to walk everywhere, even to Printer's Alley. That walkability factor came up a lot in the comments — being 3 blocks away seems to be the sweet spot for downtown hotels.
