What’s One Place You Should Avoid in Nashville?

I know Nashville can be both wild and wonderful.

Sometimes, though, you just want to know what you're getting into before you go. And believe me, after driving friends and family around Nashville for over a decade, I've learned which spots deliver and which ones need a reality check.

I asked my Nashville Facebook page of over 40,000 raging Nashville fans, “What's your honest take on Nashville's most popular spots?”

The result was illuminating and overwhelming. Here's what you need to know.

Celebrity Bars: Hit or Miss?

The celebrity-owned bars on Broadway get a lot of attention, but experiences can vary wildly.

Some visitors mentioned drink prices that feel steep – think $15 for a margarita that's mostly ice. Others noted that service quality can be hit or miss, depending on when you visit and how busy it is.

But here's the thing: thousands of people have amazing nights at these places. They're popular for a reason. Just know that you're paying for the experience and the Instagram moment as much as the drinks themselves.

Is Broadway Really Worth It?

Some locals had strong feelings about Broadway, especially on weekend nights.

It can be a wild ride – wall-to-wall people, booming music from every direction, and yes, lots of drunk tourists. The crowds are real, the noise is constant, and navigating the sidewalks can feel like an obstacle course.

But if you're into that energy and want to experience Nashville at its most electric? Broadway delivers. Just pick your timing wisely – weekday afternoons are a completely different vibe than Saturday at 10 PM.

Watch Out for Parking Issues

And if you’re driving into town? Sandy’s experience with downtown parking will make you think twice. After parking in a “Park Happy” lot, she returned to find a ticket slapped on her windshield—despite being back in time.

Apparently, a small detail on the ticket was missed, leading to a week-long dispute with the lot management. Definitely not the ideal way to kick off a vacation.

Here are my parking recommendations for a good night on Broadway:

The Love/Hate Relationship with Broadway

After working downtown for five years, I can confirm – the sidewalks can be uneven and tricky, especially after dark or after a few drinks. Watch your step, seriously.

But You Know What? Nashville Still Shines

No matter what you encounter, you'll find something to love in this town.

One person said she couldn't think of a single place she didn't like. “Nashville's got happy, friendly people,” she said. And that's the real Nashville charm, isn't it?

Whether you're grabbing a biscuit from Loveless Cafe or hitting up the honky-tonks, Nashville has something for everyone. Just go in with realistic expectations, watch your step on those sidewalks, and you'll have a great time.

  1. Girlfriends and I when making a trip to Nashville stay in Music Valley and take a shuttle downtown saving having to find parking and traffic. We make a trip on both side of the street downtown, favorite place to eat is Jacks Bar BQ favorite bar is Ledge’s when Buck McCoy is playing and Jeff Gaddis is on drums or keyboard (Indiana boy). A little shopping and head back to Music Valley. We did enjoy stopping in at Ole Red for an afternoon snack the summer. Considering we are in our 80’s from IN. we have nothing to complain about Nashville.

  2. 4 of us spent 5 strait nights at Broadway. It was my wife 70th BD and people went out of their way to wish her well and dance with her. We leaghed, danced and drank a bit. Wanted to hit Printers Alley and other side streets but we were having such a good time we just never made it. Legends Corner is where we started and ended every day. We kinda like a more dive bar scene. Tin Roof was great. Spent some fun at Kid Rock’s and the nachos at Postie’s was great. Bottom of my list was JBJ’s and Hank William Jr. No bar stunk. Can’t wait till next year. Happy 71st is coming.
