I know Nashville can be both wild and wonderful.
Sometimes, though, you just want to avoid the tourist traps. And believe me, after driving friends and family around Nashville for over a decade, I know where to go and where to skip.
I asked my Nashville Facebook page of over 40,000 raging Nashville fans, “What’s One Place You Should Avoid in Nashville?”
The result was illuminating and overwhelming. The results are below.
Enjoy!
Celebrity Bars: Hit or Miss?
Take it from the folks who’ve shared their honest opinions online—some places just don’t hit the mark.
Stacy from Alabama? She wasn’t too pleased with her margarita at Miranda Lambert's bar, barely half-full for a cool $15. “The glass had more ice than drink,” she said. Ouch!
And let’s not forget Eric Church’s bar, where the staff’s attitude left more than a few visitors with a bad taste in their mouths. It’s safe to say not every country star’s bar will give you that warm, Southern hospitality.
Is Broadway Really Worth It?
Others had their beef with Broadway in general.
Brian swears off Broadway on a weekend night. If you’ve been down there, you know it can be a wild ride—wall-to-wall people, booming music from every direction, and yes, lots of drunk tourists.
But hey, if you're into the chaos and love a good story to tell, it might just be your thing.
The Patsy Cline Museum: Worth the Price?
Then there’s the Patsy Cline Museum. Richard felt like it was overpriced for what it offered. While it’s a must-see for die-hard fans of classic country, casual visitors might feel like they’re not getting enough bang for their buck. It’s all about managing expectations, right?
Watch Out for Parking Issues
And if you’re driving into town? Sandy’s experience with downtown parking will make you think twice. After parking in a “Park Happy” lot, she returned to find a ticket slapped on her windshield—despite being back in time.
Apparently, a small detail on the ticket was missed, leading to a week-long dispute with the lot management. Definitely not the ideal way to kick off a vacation.
Here are my parking recommendations for a good night on Broadway:
The Love/Hate Relationship with Broadway
Broadway might be a polarizing spot, but love it or hate it, it’s an iconic part of the Nashville experience. It’s not just the bars, though. The uneven sidewalks? Mari's got some strong feelings about them.
I get it—after working downtown for five years, I can tell you the sidewalks can be a bit of a tripping hazard if you're not watching your step.
But You Know What? Nashville Still Shines
No matter where you go, you’ll find something to love in this town. Even Norma couldn’t think of a single place she didn’t like.
She sums it up best, “Nashville’s got happy, friendly people.” And that’s the charm, isn’t it? Whether you’re grabbing a biscuit from Loveless Cafe or hitting up the honky-tonks, Nashville has a little something for everyone.
Just make sure to watch out for those tourist traps!
Girlfriends and I when making a trip to Nashville stay in Music Valley and take a shuttle downtown saving having to find parking and traffic. We make a trip on both side of the street downtown, favorite place to eat is Jacks Bar BQ favorite bar is Ledge’s when Buck McCoy is playing and Jeff Gaddis is on drums or keyboard (Indiana boy). A little shopping and head back to Music Valley. We did enjoy stopping in at Ole Red for an afternoon snack the summer. Considering we are in our 80’s from IN. we have nothing to complain about Nashville.
