I asked Nashville visitors to share their best-kept secrets in the city, and let me tell you — some people took the “secret” part pretty seriously!
But plenty of folks were happy to share what makes Nashville special to them, and these suggestions come straight from people who've actually been there.

The Surprising Comedy Pick
One recommendation that caught my eye was the Music Jamboree sing along and comedy bus. If you're looking for something different from the typical Broadway honky-tonk experience, this sounds like a fun way to see the city.
BBQ Worth The Drive
Papa Turney's BBQ came up as a serious favorite. It's over near Nashville Shores at the Marina, and according to visitors, it has live music, waterfront views, and some of the best BBQ around. That's a pretty strong endorsement!

Robert's Western World got multiple shout-outs, and there's a good reason why. The “Recession Special” is a thing there — you can get a fried bologna sandwich, chips, a Moon Pie, and a PBR for just $6. And if you're just looking for cheap beer, you can snag a $2.50 beer there too.

Hidden Music Venues
Several people mentioned spots that aren't the big-name Broadway bars. Dee's Country Cocktail Lounge got praised for its vibe and live music. The Listening Room came up as well. And there's AJ Good Time Bar (also called “The Wheel”), which has a basement venue.
Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar got a mention too, along with Music City Bar.
Food Finds Beyond Hot Chicken
Arnold's Country Kitchen is a local favorite for meat-and-three style dining. Darnell's Donuts got a recommendation for breakfast. And if you're in Hermitage, Constant Smoke BBQ is worth checking out.
For hot chicken, Puckett's and Red's both got mentions. Peg Leg Porker came up too — so you've got options beyond the usual suspects.

The Downtown Secret
Printer's Alley Nashville is one of those spots that tourists sometimes miss. It's right there downtown, but tucked away enough that not everyone finds it.
The Honest Truth
Here's something interesting — quite a few people said there's no such thing as a secret in Nashville anymore, or that if something's good, they're keeping it to themselves.
And a couple of visitors were pretty blunt about the city being overrated or the big-name bars not living up to the hype.
So what's the real secret? Maybe it's getting off Broadway and finding the places where locals actually hang out. The spots that don't have hour-long waits or cover charges. The BBQ joints by the water, the neighborhood bars with $2.50 beers, and the music venues that aren't plastered all over Instagram.
