A lake day in Nashville usually brings to mind a pontoon boat, a cooler, and a few hours out on the water. But a boat shaped like a luxury car? That caught my attention.

We Outside Watersports offers four-seater JetCar experiences on Percy Priest Lake and Old Hickory Lake, giving locals and visitors a different way to enjoy Nashville beyond Broadway.

The idea started while the owners were on vacation, when they spotted what looked like a car driving on the water. After trying it themselves, they began exploring how to bring that experience to Music City.

Their fleet includes a Sport JetCar inspired by Lamborghini and Ferrari designs, along with a roomier, Rolls-Royce-inspired Luxury Edition. These are boats designed to look like cars, with space to bring a few friends along for the ride.

Asked how they would describe the experience to a first-timer, the team called it “the perfect mix of excitement and relaxation.”

That combination has attracted birthday groups, couples, and friends looking to spend time together on the lake. Guests receive life jackets and a safety tutorial before heading out, with a company representative staying nearby on a jet ski throughout the ride.

Come experience our 4-seater JetCar—a boat designed in the shape of a car for an experience unlike anything else on the water! We cater to everyone, from solo riders and couples to small groups and corporate events. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing cruise or an action-packed day on the water, our JetCar experience is the perfect way to have some fun in the sun and make unforgettable memories.

Were you in the watersports or tourism business before this? If not, what did you do?

No, we weren’t specifically involved in the watersports business before this, but we welcomed the challenge. Our ownership group is made up of talented entrepreneurs from a variety of backgrounds, each bringing a unique perspective and strong business acumen to the company.

How would you describe a JetCar ride to someone who has never tried one?

Definitely an adrenaline rush, but it also has a cool, laid-back vibe. It’s the perfect mix of excitement and relaxation.

Your site says the company grew out of your own vacation adventures. What made you want to bring JetCars to Nashville? 

Yes! We were on vacation when we couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw what looked like a car driving on the water. The experience was truly unmatched and completely different from a traditional lake day in a rented pontoon. After doing some research, we realized what an incredible opportunity this could be for people visiting and living in Nashville. We wanted to give people a chance to experience Music City from a completely different perspective away from the usual Broadway scene.

You operate on both Percy Priest Lake and Old Hickory Lake. What makes each one special? 

Each lake has its own unique beauty and character. We find Old Hickory Lake tends to offer a little more action, while Percy Priest Lake is generally quieter and more scenic. Both are beautiful in their own way, so it really comes down to the kind of experience you’re looking for.

You offer both Luxury and Sport JetCars. What's the difference, and which one would you recommend for a first-timer?

The Sports JetCar is a Lambo/Ferrari-inspired model with a smaller cabin and a more responsive, sportier ride. The Luxury Edition is designed after a Rolls-Royce, featuring a larger cabin and a more spacious, comfortable experience. If I had to recommend one for a first-time rider, I’d go with the Rolls-Royce Luxury Edition.

You simply can’t beat the comfort, especially if you’re taller or have a broader build. It gives you a little more room to relax and enjoy the experience while still delivering an unforgettable ride.

Your 4-seater is great for groups. What kinds of celebrations do you see most, like birthdays, bachelorette parties, or family outings?

We routinely see birthday celebrations, but a close second are groups of friends who simply want to spend time together and create more memories.

What does a rental look like from start to finish, and what should guests know before they book?

Safety is always our top priority! All drivers must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license. When you arrive, our staff will greet you, provide each rider with a properly fitted life jacket, and give you a complete safety tutorial on how to safely operate the JetCar. Also, a company representative will remain nearby on a jet ski throughout your experience and will be available should you have any questions or need assistance. Don't worry, we’ll give you plenty of space to enjoy the ride while keeping a watchful eye from nearby. Come ready to get splashed.

What are the best days and times of year to get out on the water? 

Anytime the sun is out is a good time.

We’re celebrating another successful season as we wrap up our sophomore year—Year #2!

What does the future hold?
